Hi Elise, I’m also based in NZ. Both the Smart Scoop and the cuisine art Ice 100 are currently the same price - so I’m having my difficulty choosing one. Do you have a preferred brand?

This is just someone's opinion. Sorta like your question, is just your question and not everyone else's question. Why try to make a big deal over it?????????

It probably depends on which part of the world you are in - in New Zealand, (where we use different power supply to US), the smart scoop is available for NZD $550, the cuisineart Ice-100 for NZD $700-900, and the Lello musso for around NZD $1,200 (including shipping), plus taxes, and would still require a $200 transformer to run it - so it would all up be around $1,600-$1,800 (and may still over-heat due to the different power supply). So the smart scoop is by far the least expensive option in this part of the world.

Bereidingstijd is nu aanzienlijk korter.

Wow that's a big difference in freezing time Michael!

If you send a photo I could add it to the main Smart Scoop review.

I'd love to get involved with 3D printing an improved dasher, but I just don't have the time at the moment. Plus I've never done any 3D printing.

I was presuming that I could take the existing dasher to a 3D printer, get it 3D scanned, load it into some 3D computer program and then just stretch it a bit before printing out a new version.

But I've no idea if it works like that!

Hi Carl

I posted this previously as a reply but I think no one received a notification for it. Or perhaps there is no interest?

I placed a food grade, silicone tube over the Breville smart scoop dasher to bring it closer to the wall. It’s just a clear hose with a 2mm wall and it’s a fairly tight fit. There’s still a gap but it’s much smaller. I have found it reduced the time to make my version of ice creams from around 50min to 30ish and there is a much thinner wall of ice on the bowl. The limitation is the edge of the dasher becomes rounded, so it pushes the mixture rather than scraping it off.

I have been thinking of making a food grade blade add on using a 3d printer but have no idea how to design it. It would only need to fit tightly on the edge, possibly like a sleeve with an extended outside blade and shouldn’t require any additional fastening. Do you think this is something that would possible? Would anyone be interested in helping me develop it? I have a mini monoprice 3d printer but the bed is quite small (12cm³). Look forward to your thoughts.

Sounds like someone bought the smart scoop and regrets it, because it makes sub quality ace cream, but doesn't want to admit it. So he attacks the reviewer.
